Sooo I have what feels like a weird a 2018 A1990 / 820-01041 issue here.
TL;DR: Fully functional system apart from no image on internal display despite one being rendered to it. Backlight is lit and fully controllable, and all display data is shown in System Information.

REPORTING BACK!
Yeah, obviously it was the U3100 CD3215.
U3200 was fully functional. U3100 was the problem CD3215 all along and the replacement I installed originally must have just been bad.
The new CD3215s showed up and everything was 100% golden after the first replacement attempt...
System reportedly just quit on the user one day and wouldn't turn back on. No signs of liquid exposure.
This board has been picked up and put down over the course of a few weeks now. At this point I honestly am not sure what I did to it - there was CD3215 reflowing and touchups, etc involved...
Oh yeah, hah, yep! That IS the backlight line right there, isn't it. SIGH.
Thanks so much, man. I really appreciate you weighing in with the conclusivity!
While I'm at it, any explanation for how that could happen to a completely untouched, no liquid exposure board would be awesome. Besides the design flaw of a lack of a coupling cap to block DC from getting in there, that is.
It really just has to have been some transient moisture or...
Hey folks!
This is mostly a double-check before I call something prematurely.
System is fully functional except for its internal display which has no image / no backlight. Both.
EDP_PANEL_PWR_EN is at 0V. All supplies to U8500, U8501, and U8510 are present.
So either that signal is being...
Oh, so it's the same as pre-USB-C era models. Gotcha. I believe I tried that just in case the procedure was the same and it didn't work... but I will confirm tomorrow.
After that it's just a matter of tracing through the startup sequence, then?
Thank you!
This is super shameful to ask, but could you please tell me how to start a USB-C era MacBook like this 16in unit in SMC bypass mode? I promise that I've spent some time searching the forums and Googling.
Hey folks! I have a no POST 16in MacBook Pro. Specifically, at the moment, I see the most obvious problem to be that I have no PPVCCPRIMCORE_PRIM_REG / PP1V05_PRIM voltage output from U7800.
I'm reading 51.9 ohms to ground and have a diode mode reading of 0.051V L7821/L7822/R7821.
All other...
Hey folks! I'm a long time member of the Discord but this is my first post here on the forums. Super happy to be a paying subscriber and to have this as a resource. Thank you for being here! :D
I have a 16in 820-01700 board that had damage to the SSD area on the right wing (when inverted...
