Thank you, this was helpful! The board works now! I have noticed a tiny bit of corrosion where the Ram slot pins are connected to the board. I removed what I could with a metal tool and then I've put the board into an ultrasonic cleaner. Now the board works perfectly and does not crash when I...
I have tried both ram slots separately with no success. As soon as I put a little bit of pressure on the topcase, the screen instantly turns blue and freezes. If I don't touch the macbook and run it with an external keyboard and mouse it runs for hours without problems. As soon as I move the...
I have an A1278 Mid 2010 that is crashing randomly. AHT finds no issues. But when I bend the Macbook a litte bit it crashes instantly. It either freezes or the screen turns one color, either blue or red or green. One time after this happened I got three beeps after restart. I removed the ram and...
Okay, I've found the problem. There was a short between LED_RETURN_1 and GND. It was not visible, I guess a tiny little bit of solder ran into the gap between the old and the new flex cable. I have reworked it and the backlight looks perfect now. Many thanks to tcampbell34 for the link. (y)😊
Hello, I have here a MacBook Pro 13" 820-00239 that does not turn on. The owner says it happend after he has plugged a fake charger. One of the USB-C ports is dead, the other three draw 5.12 V and 0.4 A. Under the thermal cam I can see three components getting warm: UB300, Q3200 and D6902. My...
I wanted to let it run to check how many minutes it takes to get hot. Unexpectedly it ran pretty normal for 30 minutes with CPU Diode around 70°C and fans at minimum. After that I tried stressing the system with Unigine Valley, which uses both CPU and GPU. It did not get very hot during the...
Hi,
i have here a MacBook Pro 15" 2009 with 820-2523-B that gets extremely hot.
Of course I have already cleaned the vents and have replaced the thermal paste. With no improvement. I have also checked the heatsink with hot air and a thermal cam. It conducts heat normally.
Still the MacBook...
Hi guys. Thank you for your answers!
Yes, I have reworked the LCD connector, with no effect. After that I've tried a reflow of the GPU, which in the beginning appeared to have solved the problem. But it instantly appeared again as soon as I've mounted back the heatsink. Because the heatsink is...
Unfortunately after screwing everything back together, the problem returned. 😭 Probably it was only gone because the board was still warm when I tested it.
Any ideas how to proceed?
I wanted to reflow the two Nvidia chips. When I removed the glue around U8000, C8473 also came off. After soldering on a new cap, the artifacts are gone! :giggle::giggle:
Unfortunately the problem appears also with a known good screen. On that screen in addition the white color shows pink artifacts. It is a logicboard issue. I attached two pictures with two different screen assemblies.
Hello,
I have here a MacBook Pro 2009 15" (820-2523-B), were the black color on screen shows green artifacts. When I bend the topcase of the laptop only a little bit, the artifacts disappear and black colors are normal. Very little pressure is necessary. When I release pressure, the artifacts...
This is the original backlight. I did not notice it being uneven before the replacement. But I am not 100% sure, the MacBook was not powering on, I had to bridge 2 pins to start it. I wonder if maybe bending the backlight sheet could cause this?
I have replaced the keyboard on a A1278. Now the keys work, but the backlight looks terrible. It is very bright in the center but its lateral areas are very dim. I am pretty sure that I have aligned it well. What else could I have done wrong?
Is there any way to fix this without buying a new...
Thank you! Unfortunately it looks pretty different from 820-00012. Though, there is a group of components that looks identical, even though it is placed on the other side of the board . The capacitor that is missing on my board would correspond to C9800. But I guess there is no guarantee that it...
I have a MacBook Pro 13" 2015 with a minimal liquid damage on the i/o board (820-00012). One capacitor was very corroded, after removing it the short circuit was gone. I would like to replace that capacitor, but I don't know its parameters. Are schematics for i/o boards available anywhere?
