Well I think what happened was like I told you it wasn’t necessarily starting because it was probably doing that battery low thing. When I got it to start smc bypass it would have been present probably.
So it never was booting because of the “no battery” but then with backlight I can see that...
We can mark this one as solved!! I had not confirmed that this machine just didn't have backlight. These newer ones don't fanspin when connecting power.
This one probably was booting but telling me it needed to charge the battery. Now with that backlight fixed we are good.
I injected power...
Ok, I’ll check through the sensors. I’m sure that there is one with a shorted cap somewhere or the like. This board had a bit of water damage in 3 places but all of them looked fine when I checked for shorts. I’m sure if I check the smc sensor lines one of them will be part of the water damaged...
Hey guys
g3h rails are present, s5 rails are present, but checking pp5v_S4, it is missing. The enable signal seems to come from the SMC. I hope this board is recoverable. Thank you for any tips.
I have done SMC bypass mode and I actually get a chime, I just don't get any image whatsoever...
Ok, I think it makes sense now. Inverted means it's basically 0 and that makes it in an ON state. I'll double check 7201. it seems to be working, but it could be a sensitive chip if the outputs were shorted momentarily.
3v3 S5 is not present. PPbus 3v42g3h is present. so it's like it's getting to U7840 and not coming out. P3v3S5_EN is present but P3v3S5_EN_L is not showing DC voltage.
1. The voltage on y2810 is 1.7 on the top and 1.5 on the bottom
2. I do short the pads to turn it on, but I get the same voltages regardless.
3. The light turns green, but does not turn orange with battery connected.
So, from what I can gather, pin 4 is EN_L, which I think means enable low. This maybe means there should be voltage on this pin too to enable the circuit, but when I look upstream from there, there are two transistors that seem to come from the cpu to send a signal to it. There could be...
