    820-00164 Only provides a 1/4 fan spin

PLT_RESET_L is 0V and not pulsing. I touched SMC_ONOFF_L to ground while PSU turned on....no fan spin.

820-2915 gMux Firmware updated but no blacklight now

So is the recommendation to tie the BKL_EN to supply power to BKL_PWM? Do you believe this will resolve the video shake issue?

    820-2915 No Audio on Playback

Hi have a 820-2915 that will beep on startup but doesn't show an audio device within MacOS and doesn't play audio thru speakers or headphone jack. Checked U6200 Pin 6 PP4v5_Audio_Analog = 4.48V Checked U6201 Pin 9 PP1v5_s0_Audio_Dig= 1.5V Checked U6201 Pin 46 PP5V_S0_Audio=5.04V Headphone Jack...

820-2915 gMux Firmware updated but no blacklight now

I have not tried to tie both BKL_EN and BKL_PWM together as I just thought it was quicker to take 3.3v from JTAG connector. As I shutdown the MacOS the screen goes into some weird 'Red' colour as I'm shutting it down. Screen then goes black when the computer is off. Video seems to have a...

820-2915 gMux Firmware updated but no blacklight now

In the previous post I still had BKL_PWM hardwired as indicated on the previous message, guess I should have mentioned it was still hardwired. Took voltage 3.3 volts from the JTAG connector J9600 Pin 1. Also previously checked that R9704 Pin 1 was connected to R9693 Pin 1 as I didn't understand...

820-2915 gMux Firmware updated but no blacklight now

Replaced U9701, no issue with A5 to K/D9701. Had to have hard wired BKL_PWM to 3.3V to see any video. So I can see some video now but on boot-up I see some lines on apple logo when it starts and video is shaking, background goes to total 'Red' when I shutdown computer.

820-2915 gMux Firmware updated but no blacklight now

Tried the PRAM reset 3 times - No change Swapped LCD with anther - No change Both BKL_EN/PWM are now 3V (remember I have wired BKL_PWM high with a wire, is was only 8.8 mV) Checks all the LCD return line resistors that are basically wires (0 ohms) - No issue Diode mode R9717 = 627, R9718 = 628...

820-2915 gMux Firmware updated but no blacklight now

Hi, I received a 820-2915 15" 2011 board that had the gMux hardwired to bypass the external AMD chip and was asked to do the gMux firmware update that allows brightness control. Upon removing the several wires that are involved in the bypass, I was able to reprogram the gMux using DosDude's...

820-00165 Boots sometimes and then shuts down after several hours

Not sure what I hit but will try to avoid the "quoted" post response, I've removed my fashionable error. Ran Unigine Heaven to stress test and looks like it's working. Thx for helping with this one.

    820-00164 Only provides a 1/4 fan spin

    I have a 11" Macbook Air, with no visible signs of liquid damage but it's only providing a 1/4 fan spin on DC power. PPBUS_G3H - 8.57v PP5V_S5 = 5V SMC_RESET_L = 3.4 V PP3V3_SUS = 3.3v PPVRTC_G3H = 3.34V PP3V3_S4 - Pulsing PP5V_S4RS3 = 0V PCH_CLK32K_RTCX1 = 36Khz (Read from my scope) I'm...

820-00165 Boots sometimes and then shuts down after several hours

Since I don't have a stencil to do .3mm, I have done a reflow and I'm checking out the laptop. Do you have advice on how to check the motherboard out? I'm currently using istat menus to show stats. Machine has been on for 2 1/2 days so far....going to leave another day or two before I conclude...

820-00165 Boots sometimes and then shuts down after several hours

Thanks for the welcome notice. I have checked other area's for corrosion and not found any I'm going to assume that you are suggesting SMC reball rather than SMC reflow to ensure a better connection and no issues with the pads? (I have not performed this task previously, do you have any...

820-00165 Boots sometimes and then shuts down after several hours

This is a liquid damaged board that I repaired initially by cleaning up the one wire circuit and replacing the backlight driver. Initially after 30 mins of testing thought the board was good to go but it seems that after using it for a couple of hours it just shuts off, sometimes it will...
