Placed the backup BIOS back and the laptop booted up at normal speed initially.... ran the browser and youtube video and then the machine started to slow down and the kernel task when backup to very high again.
Is it possible some sensor causing this issue?
After having the machine on for...
I had an issue with the A4160 EasyFlash (connector came off the board), so I tried the A4140 EasyFlash and was able to write the ROM but I'm not getting a the Apple logo to boot up anymore.
Connected the Medusa, read the BIOS...tried to clean the ME and got an error starting the write ROM. So I loaded the file provided into Medusa and tried to write the ROM but got an 'Erase Error: 8ver' '00% W:001000'
Any suggestion as to how to get around this?
Thx
Yes, I just tried that as well...power supply goes from 0.02 to .200 Amps spins for about 1 1/2 secs then power drops and fan stops spinning....and this cycle repeats.
Ok, I was able to connect...read the previous ROM and save it via my USB programmer. Loaded the ROM provided with Clean ME into Medusa-2 and wrote the BIOS back, then disconnected the power and re-connected.....still getting 1/4 fan spin.
I just got my Medusa-2..... doesn't seem to be able to read the BIOS.
Step 1. Using the 'Red Easy Flash' A4160 adapter with the arrow facing up or towards the back of the motherboard.
Step 2. I added the battery to the motherboard, noticed the Easy Flash light turned a dim 'blue'...
I've checked all the SP BIOS termination resistors and they seem fine, and I don't find any issues with the traces.
I've ordered a Medusa programmer (it will take several weeks), in the meantime I'm guessing I can use a CH341A USB programmer? What software do you recommend to use with it...
By chance I swapped out the board with another 820-2915 and noticed that it was also reporting the same issue.....so I re-installed the Mojave MacOS and the problem is solved without any hardware.
Please close this thread.
I have a 820-00165 which looks like some previous liquid damage but the machine boots. Re-Installed MacOS which took more time than normal, it seems that the machine is very slow. Held down 'D' to run diag on boot but MacOS reports no issues found: Code App0000.
Also, when turning on the...
Are you suggesting that I look to reflash BIOS prior to validating all SPI Bus Series Termination resistors and their traces?
Curious as to why you think the BIOS needs to be reflashed?
I checked R1810,R1811,R1812,R1813,R6211,R6212 and they are good.
System Report for Audio Devices does not show any input or output, not sure what you mean by audio codec showing up in system report.
So Upon connecting R5115 pads together for 10s, supplying power and upon letting go....I got full fan spin for 2 secs then go off and back on for approx 2 secs, almost in sync with the PSU using more current.
Haven't checked SPI_BUS resistors and traces yet and haven't looked at BIOS also as I...
Since I'm a Noob.....can you explain or point me to...the following...
1. What is involved in trying a 'good BIOS file'? and what does clean ME mean and entail?
2. What is involved in performing the SMC bypass method correctly? Upon searching the forum it looks like you just touch the...
Well apparently BKL_EN is not providing 3V.....Not sure what I was checked before but apparently not the correct thing.
BKL_EN is only in the mV's.....since I bridged BKL_PWM to BKL_EN the display is no longer visible since Backlight is not enabled.
