Board A1342 2010, 820-2877, fan spins, no chime

I forgot to mention the behavior of the fan. After switched on it runs normally until full speed 10s, then stops 1s, then goes again until full speed and does not stop anymore. Same thing after heating MCP, no light on mouse. Should I put back the heatsink after heating the MCP? If I don't put...

Board A1342 2010, 820-2877, fan spins, no chime

I found a good working board with same reference and swapped the BIOS chip; still the same issue (and the BIOS works fine on the other board). I also noted that the current on the good board, with only USB mouse connected and red light, fan full speed, is around 0.9A. On this bad board, same...

    A1425 2012 820-3462, very slow and freeze

I repeated the PRAM reset several times, did not change the slowness. With SSD on USB with MacOS: exactly the same, 3 minutes to boot. Then 1 min 30 s to reach the desktop after entering password. I do all this without battery (the original battery is dead and I don't have spares) It works...

    A1425 2012 820-3462, very slow and freeze

Hello, Another board which looks fine, no visible water damage, but it is very very slow, and finally switches off by itself. It takes 2 to 3 minutes to boot, then after entering the password another 2 minutes delay, with the beach ball appearing from time to time. I put this board in a...

    A1425 2012 820-3462, graphic issue and freeze

Same issues on external monitor. When running ASD sometimes it freezes also, but I managed to get the attached photos. It says errors, but the images are well displayed curiously So it is a video controller issue? This is the CPU? No way to try to reflow the RAM?

    A1425 2012 820-3462, graphic issue and freeze

Hello, Here is board which looks fine, no water damage, but it has issues when displaying some graphics, or colors are not good, and later it freezes. See photos attached. It is able to run partly Heaven test, but look at the image... What can be the issue here?

A1286 2009 820-2523, chime, no image, getting hot

I am back with this one, thinking... Assuming there is an issue in LCD connector: if I remove LCD connector, at least I should finally have external video?

A1286 2009 820-2523, chime, no image, getting hot

I checked again LCD and cable, they work flawlessly with 2 other boards. I will stop here with this board, I wanted to go as far as possible in finding the issue, it is not worth putting new stuff on it. It will become a donor board :)

    A1286 2011 820-2915, no chime

More info: It chimes, but no image, no backlight. LCD_PWR_EN: 0V GMUX_RESET_L: 3.37V PM_ALL_GPU_PGOOD: 0V (because PPVCORE_GPU: 0V (disabled by removing R8911)) I understand that PPVCORE_GPU is for U8000, the discrete GPU For what is PPVCORE_S0_AXG? It goes to U1000, the CPU. Is the integrated...

The board is out of the case, SMC_LID: 3.3V At the beginning sometimes there was a grey screen one second or two when booting, now nothing. No image also. LCD_PWR_EN: 0V

A1286 2009 820-2523, chime, no image, getting hot

I tried heat test, about 10-15s at 180-200 degrees on the die: still no grey screen. I did this test quickly without heatsink, just switch on, chime and see if there is backlight. Should I put the heatsink back and wait 45 seconds to see if there is a blinking folder, even without backlight?

    A1286 2011 820-2915, no chime

Thanks both for all these explanations. Taking into account that I have not yet the material and knowledge to flash BIOS, I: - removed R8910, without touching BIOS: same behavior: no chime, no USB activity - swaped the BIOS chip with a good one from same board model: same story - about to...

    A1286 2011 820-2915, no chime

PRAM reset (through the keyboard, don't know if there is another way) did not work, still no chime. Once I had a board with EFI password which had no chime, it chimed after changing EFI. Can this be linked? How to disable GPU? I saw that some remove R8911 which provides power to U8900, is this...

    A1286 2011 820-2915, no chime

Hello, Here are the symptoms: - green light on charger ok, current 1.15A - fan spins ok - red light on mouse ok on one USB port, off on the other. USB Link LED with OSX permanently off (any USB) - no chime, but beep if no RAM - nothing on LCD, nothing on external display I know this is the...

A1286 2009 820-2523, chime, no image, getting hot

So many tricks... :) So, when using a blinking pendrive with OSX: after the boot the LED stays switched on for 12 seconds, blinks once, stays on 12 seconds, then permanently blinks. I tested this pendrive on a working board, indeed the LED blinks just after the boot. I tested it on a board with...

A1286 2009 820-2523, chime, no image, getting hot

Yes, there is always red light on mouse. So, CPU is OK but MCP dead, because MCP drives all display exits?

With external video (and internal LCD disconnected): nothing, not even grey screen. (on the other hand I see grey screen and video on A1286 2012 board with internal LCD disconnected, but I don't know if A1286 2009 board behaves the same) With thermal paste current continues to grow but much more...
