820-2850 green light, fan spin, no chime or video

I was using a 60W charger! I didn't know about the 85W requirement :) I switched to using an 85W charger and I am getting the same symptoms but now not needing the battery connected to get some activity. So still no chime or video or USB activity. Wondering where to go from here

    820-01237 iMac going slow

Many thanks for your help 2informaticos. I think the speed of the SSD does compensate for the suspecting slow running so they may be happy - but Im keen to find ways to debug these issues. Question: Is there a utility or unix command to confirm slowed processing? Throttling Question: Is it...

    820-01237 iMac going slow

Yes the slowness and semi frequent SBBOD was there before anyone opened the iMac. It is the sole reason customer has brought me it. I tried booting with the webcam removed - no difference sadly. LCD sensor reports 129c when screen disconnected and 25c when connected so no suspicion there...

    820-01237 iMac going slow

The temps as reported by HWMonitor.app were with the original Apple supplied spinning HDD. I do see SBBOD . I’ve replaced the HDD with a Samsung evo 960 [and a SATA extension that hopefully grounds the temp sensor pin] the 249c has now become 129c. Fan still wants to spin fast and SBBOD still...

    820-01237 iMac going slow

Are schematics, boardview and diagnostics available for this board? Link appreciated if so. Are there any common problems with this one? Fan is going fast and HWMonitor.app reports high temps on HDD bay 1 (249c), HDD bay 2 (129) and GPU 2 die (129)

820-00165 fan spins, flashing folder, tried good SSDs, not seen by diskutil

Diode mode to ground on exposed pins 53 to 29 of SSD connector are similar between two boards using same SSD. Pin53 to pin29 reading (dashes separate the pins) 0-.4-.4-0-OL-.4-.4-0-.4-.4-0-.4-.4-0-0-.4-.4-0-.4-.4-0-0-.04-.04-0 My other board had very similar values with only pin 52 varying...

A1311 820-3126 iMac with frequent wait cursor SBBOD

I don't understand what you just said. I am wondering whether video is output via thunderbolt when the logic board realises the LCD panel is not connected.

A1311 820-3126 iMac with frequent wait cursor SBBOD

Thats a good question - how I came to the conclusion to join pin1 to pin7 which now looks like joining two grounds together. Before I figure out why I did this do you mind if I ask another question on logistics.... With the LCD screen removed from the iMac will video be available via the...

A1311 820-3126 iMac with frequent wait cursor SBBOD

Yes sorry Ive updated the title now. I have managed to work out its a 820-3126 logic board on this iMac although only by comparing its layout with what 820 logic boards sell as a logic board for an A1311 - I haven't removed the board yet and I think the actual board number must be on the hidden...

A1311 820-3126 iMac with frequent wait cursor SBBOD

Ive shorted to ground pin 7 to GND (pin 1) on a SATA extension cable and it has had the desired effect of getting rid of the high temperature indication :) But attempts at cloning to the drive using Disk Utility and carbon copy cloner results in complaints of S.M.A.R.T status errors. Should I...

smc_pwrfail_warn_l is also 0v on another board I have so I think I will assume this is normal. Wow well spotted, after I zoomed to 800% I can see the negation!

A1311 820-3126 iMac with frequent wait cursor SBBOD

Ive installed a new 1TB SSD and installed High Sierra but still incessant SBBOD. So it looks like I need to get hold of ASD 3S145. How do I get hold of it? Searches just take me to what look like dodgy sites.

A1311 820-3126 iMac with frequent wait cursor SBBOD

Thanks again 2informaticos, How do I get hold of the corresponding EFI ASD test? In case this reveals a particular area of trouble are there schematics available for iMacs so I could locate the device? Is there a way to determine why the OS is displaying the wait cursor? core dump?
