I agree, the alcohol is needed. However, larossmann also uses alcohol and he seems to have no residue. I'm wondering what's causing this residue and how to get rid of it.

Computer starts with logo but eventually screen goes white or black (depending on it being warm or not). Is it worth trying to reflow the mux (and tant cap) or is this likely a GPU problem? All help is welcome :)

Hi, Had some sensor issues with this one so I decided to replace U5800. After I replaced it, it doesn't boot anymore. I'm guessing I fried the CPU, which is right on the other side of the board. Any suggestions? Cheers, Rick

So u7000 is shorted or both c7020 and c7050 are. My bet would be U7000.

Yes. Interchangable with a 820-3536 screen right? Just replaced the LVDS connector, no improvement.

Gets to the Apple logo, but no backlight. The gate of Q7700 is not being pulled low. Enable is present and resistors in the voltage divider are fine. I've replaced U7700, still doesn't work. Any suggestions? I've bridged U8050 because I don't have replacement parts. Any suggestions...
