As I've said earlier I've tried 3 different assembly which worked with another board so the assemblies are fine.
I can see the screen lighting up quickly (backlight turning on the screen) for a fraction of a second and off.
Another A1706 Macbook 13" Touchbar with the deadly "Critical software update" error.
I've tried unplugging the battery and using another known good touchbar but no luck.
We've also tried to access the drive using the Apple Data recovery tool connected directly onto the lifeboat connector and...
I have tried that same screen with a 2017 board model and it works just fine. It is a full assembly.
2016 and 2017 screens are supposed to be the same and compatible with both boards. Anyway, that was the original screen which worked fine previously with that board.
External video is stable...
Sorry my explanation was unclear. I am getting the "low battery" sign on the external display only, not the internal display.
While testing, I am using only the logicboard and our test screen. (test screen has been tested working fine with another 2017 board)
As I know I am supposed to the the...
While battery is being not plugged, I am getting the sign on the screen that battery is low.
So assuming that...
Once I plug the charger:
3V3_SoSW_LCD will spike at 3.3V for a second
5V_SoSW_LCD will spike at 3.3V for a second
DP_INT_HPD_R will spike at 3.3V for a second
EDP_PANEL_PWR_EN...
Well I just did and same thing.
I've tried 3 different screens to rule out the screen issue but no difference.
I am still able to get a picture over HDMI though (USB-C adapter)
I am not getting a picture from what I can tell.
I am getting external display working using HDMI adapter.
LCD assembly had liquid damage. The cable going from the mainboard to the LCD board has green stuff.
Hi,
We have a test A1707 mainboard that we use for test and we did plug our customer screen to it for testing, after a small liquid damage on his screen.
Backlight wasn't shorted but anyhow, no picture/backlight on his screen and then on our test screen as well after that.
I saw Paul lately...
Hi,
I have that which had only a tiny liquid damage around R7521.
I have replaced the 4 resistors where the corrosion has formed and replaced also U7501.
Now the board gets voltages but is stuck at .2A
CPU_Vcore is present as well as PP1V05_S0. The PCH die gets warm but the CPU die is cold...
Machine was turning on, CPU was getting voltage but it was brain dead after the Catalina upgrade.
We're now getting it to boot with your Bios file.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Actually trying a donor board Bios (old bios), I am now getting a picture on her screen and our test screen.
I am wondering if it could be an EDID ban of her screen. I will try your Bios anyway just to confirm.
Is there a list of banned EDID screen codes somewhere to compare please?
That's at least what the customer is telling us.
No sign of liquid damage though the board doesn't look great.
I am focusing on the Bios for now. I believe it could become corrupted after a failed upgrade or something.
Symptoms are we can't do a PRAM reset nor access the EFI boot menu.
Screen...
Hi,
I have that board which was previously fixed in another store for liquid damage.
Repair was done around backlight circuitry and that one works.
SMC was also reflowed.
I know that sensor is on the I/O board so I've tried with a different I/O board and same issue.
I've tried a known good...
My bad... using an oscilloscope, I can very briefly see them all showing up for some milliseconds then down to 0V, so does GPUVCORE_EN.
However PPVCORE_GPU goes up to 200mV and then drops to 0V.
Resistance to ground PPVCORE_GPU is 22ohms which seems ok.
Could it still be a bad ISL area (ISL...
Hi,
I have that 820-3332 with a previous repair attempt on U8900. The rest of the board looks clean, no corrosion.
U8900 area looked pretty bad so I have decided to rebuild it swapping all the nasty components.
I did also swap U8900 from a donor board.
Once powered on, I could hear something...
