Board has liquid damage and got rust around C7272/C7273 and also around F7040 area.C7272 actually came off with corroded solder pad. But pin 16 of U7200 seems to be ok as it still generates PP5V_S3 and PP3V3_S5.
Green light. No fan spin. PP5V_S0 & PP3V3_S0 are OK.
checked PPVCORE_S0_CPU at pin...
Thanks piernov. Is it true that all G84-603-A2 have white underfill?
I have got supposedly new G84-603-A2 with white underfill and those chips are green, I presumably killed them as they turned brown after I put them on the board so I am really puzzled by the temperature. :(
I have replaced defective GPU with a new one and machine boot up with chime but it wont go pass apple logo when the bar is around 50% it will just reboot.
I tried to boot linux and it wont go into anything with graphic but somehow pure text mode seems to be ok.
Where should I start looking?
OK, perhaps it isnt worth the effort to take apart the screen to replace cable.... so maybe it is best to just disable bluebooth 2.0 at the moment as it is old anyway....
Is there an easier way out?
no, i dont have another airport card here to test, but the problem is there with or without the airport card when the cable is plugged into the logic board.
i have done that equivalently by masking the 2 bluetooth data pins (pin 24&25) by tapes and the slow apple logo problem is gone. Now what? I guess data problem causing by the flex cable?
Without the flex cable, the machine boot up normal (apple logo is shown almost immediately and then the boot proceed)
If I keep the flex cable in, but disconnect the other end of airport flex cable, the machine will still boot up, but will take a long time for it to show the apple logo to...
Sorry i think i had wrong observation before, I spent more time on isolating the issue.
It seems like the problem is J3401, if the cable is connected to J3401 on the board, the machine will just stuck at white screen (with chime).
As soon as i took off the cable at J3401, the board seems to...
L9004 is good.
With good known battery alone:
PPBUS_G3H = 11.37v
3V42_G3H = 3.38v
No fan spin, no chime.
do i need to simulate the power button? it seems like this board wont power on by itself?
- Screen stuck at white screen, "chime" with magsafe, green light and orange light is observed when known good battery is plugged in.
- Same stuck at white screen when battery is removed.
- Wont power on when attempt to use battery only.
- Wont response to keyboard i.e. cannot do nvram reset or...
Yes, board power cycles every 5s. I can see from the PSU that it is drawing about 1A and then power cycle.
ALL_SYS_PWRGD cycles with it between 0v and 3.3v
PPVCORE_S0_CPU cycles between 0 and 1.1v
ok i have hooked up that magsafe cable to the psu.. fan spin but with the same on and off pattern....
SMC bypass mode also the same, high speed fan on and off pattern...
I did compare diode mode values on big coil with a good board, all values seems value EXCEPT:
L7530 on bad board is 140 and...
