Got this Mac Mini today with a ripped of fan connector, not on the logic board but from the fan wires. I have taken the connector of an old A1278 fan but I can't tell which pin goes where.
I have tried some different places now an got the fan to spin but I don't know if tach and controller pins...
You are right, after trying several times the card suddenly popped up, so probably just a dirty slot. I bought this one to repair and sell, and if there are any defects its going to affect the value considerably.

Got a MacBook Pro 15" 2010 yesterday, I was informed that the USB ports where dead.
There is no water damage as far as I can tell and the previous owner said he probably overloaded the USB ports with USB hubs.
I have got both USB ports working again, both L4605 and L4610 where open and got...

I did replace the connector, and as soon as I started the computer smoke came out, L3404 burned (Yes I know I should have measured for a short first:)).
Replaced L3404, and of course short to ground. Tried it...
Haha, thank you. I don't think it just happened either, but what can I do :)? I'll just be the good Uncle and change the connector since the board is already outside the computer. I'll post an update as soon as I have replaced the connector.
I thought I was finished with these old boards now, but unfortunately my nephews MacBook Pro lost it's Wifi.
The board shows no signs of water damage.
L3401 measures fine
L3404 measures fine and have 5V on each side
U3401 have 3V on output
I have tried with both another Airport card and...
Just an update here, cleaned the board and the trackpad cable and after that the fan started acting normal and keyboard functions as it should.
Battery wouldn't charge before I did an SMC reset. Everything is fine now.
