    [SOLVED]820-3332 TW0P Sensor Error

Please mark post as resolved. Replaced U5523 and the issue was resolved. I looked at it under high magnification and the top looked a little funny.. almost like a chip was taken out of the top of it. Pain in the neck to replace that particular component surrounded by the fan, IO board, and wifi...

Definitely took me a few tries to get uniform balls on my practice SMC. Removing and replacing it was easy, the part where I need more practice is forming the balls correctly. I am using solder paste, but I may buy the balls instead, as it looks easier to get uniform ball sizes. Using chipquik...

    [SOLVED]820-3332 TW0P Sensor Error

Hello, This board has no liquid damage. It had intermittent kernel panics and shutdowns until I addressed bad solder joints at U8900. It is failing diagnostics with sensor error TW0P, which I think is airport proximity temp. Fans do not spin on high, however. I checked for 3.3V at U5523 and...

Looking to buy an iMac any suggestions?

Buy Mac Mini, install SSD, and 16 GB RAM. Spend the rest on a decent monitor. Velcro or vesa mount it to the monitor, boom, it's an iMac.

I bought the stuff. But yes, I sent him along to someone who knows how to do it. I will kill a couple of the white macbook boards while I learn. If I did it right the first time I'd quit right then and go buy a lottery ticket.

Hello, I have a macbook with logic board 820-3332 that is not detecting the battery. I have tracked it down to the SMC (I think) and I unfortunately do not have the capability to replace that chip yet. As a favor to my customer, I was hoping someone closeish to Iowa would be willing to take on...

    820-3332 Battery Detection

Yup. Schematic threw me off! Double checked with a new ISL6259 chip, battery detection still f***ed. Is it worth buying the kit to reball an SMC and replace this one, when I have maybe had 2 so far that would need this? Thanks

    820-3332 Battery Detection

Hello, I am not getting battery detection on this logic board. Tested with a known good battery. Checked resistance on R5280 and R5281. No corrosion around the SMC that I can tell. PP3V42_G3H is present. SMBUS_BATT_SCL (SMBUS_SMC_5_G3_SCL) was shorted to ground, the SDA line was OK. I...

    [SOLVED]820-00165 Backlight Issues

Resistors and traces were intact! Incorrectly soldered LP8550 chip. Backlight now works normally. I suspect I pushed on the chip while the solder was still liquid, under the microscope the chip was slightly tilted and the balls were flattened. Thank you for the clue.

Avoid L2 computer for anything, ever. Everything they sell is garbage that was not even tested before being thrown in a non ESD safe bag and sent to you.

    [SOLVED]820-00165 Backlight Issues

This macbook had a short in the board neard d7701, and the backlight driver feedback line was burned away. I drilled a hole until the short to ground was gone, replaced the fuse and backlight driver, and ran a wire to replace the LCDBKL_FB line to the backlight driver. Backlight works, laptop...

    [SOLVED]Advice needed on trackpad issue

I have a 2015 15" MBPr that had tea spilled in it. The trackpad works but the "click" is very soft - I suspect that some of the tea got in to the trackpad. I tested with a good trackpad, and it "clicks" much better. Is it worth trying to dig the trackpad out? Has anyone had any luck removing...

how to keep motivated, if you feel like your failing

Save it for another day. Spending hours focusing on one board usually leaves me in a bad mood and missing something obvious. Cannot overstate the value of having a fresh start on something too. Take a few days, do some easy things, get your head cleared, and come back to it. I usually space out...

Why the 821-1480 and 821-2049 Hard Drive Cables Die

Yeah, I was thinking something along those lines. Copper gets very brittle. I rarely have HD cables return. I have noticed that failure rates for (presumably) old part # 821-1480 are much higher than the 821-2049 (suspected newer part number to correct issue). Maybe apple attempted to correct...

Sorry Folks, iPhone 7 Home Buttons Aren’t User Replaceable

I've never really considered replacing a home button for 6/6s anyways. Either we can swap the home button in to a new LCD, or we told the customer that the only way the Touch ID would ever work again would be to take it to apple. No one has ever opted to break touch ID functionality just to get...

Why the 821-1480 and 821-2049 Hard Drive Cables Die

Hello, I know there has been a lot of speculation about the frequent failures of these hard drive cables. I have heard from a couple of sources that the machined finish of the macbook interior abrades the cable and causes shorts that can be insulated with electrical or kapton tape. I'd like to...

    820-4924 - Water Damage - No Video

I have had water get in under the clutch cover and wreck the LCD / backlight board. I have replaced a fuse and a connector on that sub board when I was in a bind for parts. You can easily replace that LCD cable as well.
