    820-2936 slow

Hi Folks, Got a 820-2936 that runs slow yet passes all AHT and ASD (OS and EFI) tests. Dirty inside but after a good cleaning no signs of corrosion. Same behavior with or without battery and other component isolation. Figured this would be a sensor issue but no issues are found. This was...

820-4924 no power, has all rails

Green light turns orange after a few sec and stays that way. U1900 has 3.3 or 3.4V on pins 1, 2, 5 and 13. 372mV on pin 12 and 60/70mV on pin 4 (this was 330mV when I measure before and before that it was fluctuating all over the place. Not it holds steady at 60/70mV). U1950 16mV pin 2, 3.4V...

820-4924 no power, has all rails

820-4924 appears to have all G3H and S5 rails at the right voltages, green light that responds to SMC reset yet no power. U7600 had a little bit of crud on it so I replaced that, no other issues visually with the board. I ran out of hints as where to look next. Any pointers appreciated.

    Tools recommendations needed

Hi folks, As I foresee my first SMC reball in my near future, I am looking for a good clamp/holder that can hold a chip and stencil and is sturdy. Don't mind if it takes up some space. Also which solder paste is preferred or is buying the balls better? Finally, a good stencil. I see one on...

    820-2936 green light no power

Reflowed the SMC, no change. Any other way to narrow down if this is the SMC at fault or something else?

    820-2936 green light no power

Ah I see what you mean. I use 85W tips to use with the PSU. Only other battery I have is empty from a machine that "doesn't recognize battery" so hardly reliable. Tried it anyway, it's not charging as the Mac still only pulls about 0.020 Amps.

    820-2936 green light no power

PPBUS = 12.6V. Charger cable connected to bench PSU set to 16.5V 3.65A

    820-2936 green light no power

This Mac draws 0.019-0.025 Amps at 16.5V Green light on charger but no power. Does not respond to SMC reset. In measuring rails I got to PP5V_S5 which fluctuated between 3.8 and 5V. Replaced U7941 and U7200. Now a consistent 5V on PP5V_S5. Still no power though. Moving down the rails I got no...

820-3662 Runs without battery, fails to boot with battery

Bummer. Though at this point it’s running 100% and passes all ASD OS/EFI and AHT tests. Both on battery power and connected. Battery is 100% though, gonna drain it and see how it acts.

820-3662 Runs without battery, fails to boot with battery

I was working with the wrong information. Issue persists but this is an 820-3787-06, not an 820-3662

    820-4924 backlight issue

This is a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014), would a 2013 display work?

    820-4924 backlight issue

Can't say for sure, history of the machine is unknown. I have an Early 2013 display, can I use that to test on this Mid 2014?

    820-4924 backlight issue

this came in dead, no power. Found corrosion around thunderbolt port. Cleaned and replaced what was bad and unit now powers on and passes all tests I throw at it. The backlight acts a little funky though. Backlight only activates once progress bar starts loading under the Apple logo, not...

Are there DC boards from other models that are compatible?

Max temp? That won’t just melt the connector and plastics around it but probably the board itself...

    820-3536 SSD connector replacement

If it wasn’t for melting the plastic I would. Unable to find the sweet spot of melting solder without melting plastic.
